A refreshing and uplifting book. After many stories that are oversexualized and unnecesarily violent, it is so good to read about an unlikely hero in Sheldon. I loved how he uses his unrecognized past to overcome unbelievable odds. I have…

Loved it. It is so "off the beaten path" that at first I wasn't sure i wanted to read it. It was more than worth it! Funny, incredibly insightful with a great plot full of action especially at the end.

I liked this book. I hadn't read anything by this author before and was impressed how the characters are developed and how their different stories are woven together. To me it is a lighter version of Scandinavian Noir with touches of…

Took me a bit to get into it, enjoyed the story and characters and the eventual outcome.

Masterfully written, tight narrative, all the separate pieces exquisitely timed to fit together. And as a bonus, some of the edgiest dialogue I’ve encountered in a long time. This kind of action-driven story works well only if the…

The are so many layers to this book, yet clearly told with humor and compassion, with an unlikely hero. I reread it every year. No need for me to repeat the plot lines in the previous comments.

I found this book to be unusual for a mystery. Although bit slow at the start, once the plot kicked in it kept my interest throughout. Sheldon's state of mind [how our minds work] and thought process was one of the most engaging things…

This excellent first novel by Derek B. Miller, which he says was written in 2008 but not released in the USA until 2012 (after being first released in Norway (highly unusual for a novel written in English) in 2011, is a beautifully written…

Pleasing easy reading. The story unfolds at a good pace. Beach book? kinda. Always nice to read stories that have a taste of other countries in them.

Derek B. Miller’s first novel, Norwegian By Night is a blend of styles from police procedural to a literary work that examines the emotional toil of aging, to a war story that combines memory and loss, and a stream of consciousness story…

So many 5-star ratings and I'll add my own as well. I loved this book and as others have said, didn't want it to end. Read the other reviews and that way I don't have to iterate all the many many ways this book is so remarkable.

A great read. As one reviewer states - you can' t read it fast enough but you don' t want it to end too soon. Good humour but also suspenseful. Good characterization. Heartily recommend it.
