I can't recommend this book to anyone who isn't willing to wade through many references to Homer's Odyssey, to engage in a contemplation of the many sides of evil, and to endure almost constant indecision on the part of the narrator. The story of Peter Debauer and his search for his father is pretty thin and full of side ramblings. Yes, it is about homecoming, I guess, if you think of it in terms of finding where you feel at home. It is hard to follow at times, and often I just wanted to shake the author and say 'Get on with it'. One consolation - it is only 260 pages.

For me this book reads more like a collection of essays, and not a novel, which the book claims to be. Unfortunately it failed to hold my attention, and I quickly moved onto the author's other book, Summer Lies.
