I liked the science fiction DVD. I loved the computer graphics. It was well done. The plot was strong and had a purpose. It was well acted. I also like stories about aliens. It is possibly to violent for children. The sexuality is subtle. It might be scary for young children.

If you haven't seen The Wrath Of Khan lately, it would help to see that movie again before watching this one.

I haven't seen the classic star trek episodes but this one was exciting and had a good plot.

I appreciate that the producers of this film are obviously try so hard to make this new incarnation fit in logically with the Trek lore. It's a hard task, and though it cannot be perfect, they are certainly doing an admirable job. Also obvious from this film is that the writers are not only looking at select Trek stories, or only the original series, but the entire Trek canon. Again, I applaud them.

All that being said, I enjoyed Star Trek Into Darkness, but being the nerd I am, I'd rather spend my time with classic TNG episodes like "Chain of Command" and "Yesterday's Enterprise," would rather ruminate in the campy adventures of the original Kirk and Spock, would rather spend my hours with my favorite cast, the crew of Deep Space 9, and their wonderfully written storyline.

And yet, the Trek of Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman is so much better than what my Trek was becoming. Voyager was good for one half of the first episode. Enterprise wasn't worth my time. And Nemesis was such a complete bastardization of everything I had grown to love.

So do I love this new vision of Trek? No, I don't love it, but I have enjoyed it. It's the closest thing I've seen to Trek since the invasion of Cardassia and Star Trek: Insurrection (equivalent to 1999 for those you not in the know). If I had to chose between this recent incarnation and the death of Trek, I'd chose this new vision. That being said, I hope the writers keep their promise at the end of the second film in mind as they write the third. It's time for the crew of the Enterprise to explore--and while I expect they'll come across significant action in the next film, I hope they find time to explore the universe and themselves without having a big, bad villain to distract them.

GREAT MOVIE!!!!!

Wow! The visuals were incredible and the story and acting and cinematography were top notch. Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing. Best Star Trek film ever. Why? Cause J.J. Abrahms is a genius.
