I love Francis the little badger and this is by far my favorite of her books. The little songs she sings to herself are so clever and funny.

The Frances books were my favorite picture books as a child. I loved that she ate bread and jam at every meal and made up songs about string beans and cutlets. The illustrations personify Frances perfectly. Years later these books still delight young readers.

One of my all-time favorite picture books, in spite of some questionable food choices (eggs, breaded veal cutlets, lobster salad... blech). I love Frances' "Jam On Toast" song, her sweet parents, the writing... and, of course, the gentle lesson about trying new things.

Frances will only eat bread and jam, so her mom pulls a Mrs. Pigglewiggle and uses some reverse psychology to solve the problem.
