An SCU team investigates a troubling string of disappearances. But how do you find someone who has vanished without a trace? Something strange is happening in the small mountain town of Serenity, Tennessee. People going on routine errands never reach their destination. Over the past few weeks, it's happened to five men and women - and now a child. The local police chief calls the FBI, and a team from the Special Crimes Unit is immediately sent in. The town is already on the edge of panic, but the mysterious events take a sinister turn when a body unrelated to the missing persons case surfaces and one of the SCU agents vanishes. Now, the team's hunt for the lost has turned into something very personal - and very dangerous.

Excellent read. Fast pace from beginning to end. Interesting new people and some old friends from past books. Always a good read.

I couldn't get past the first chapter in the audio version, but I did enjoy the printed book. It was a bit slow at first, but worth continuing to read. The basic plot - small town, intelligent Chief of Police, mysterious bad guy - is similar to many of Hooper's other books, but there were enough differences to keep my interest. Also, the personalities of the agents and the dynamics in their relationships made the book interesting.

Another instalment in the SCU series. I really hope Hooper finds some inspiration and new plot ideas because using the same over and over in all her books is getting old. The premise is good and quite interesting but her books have become so generic that they seem to be interchangeable, the only thing that varies are the names of the characters and the town where it takes place

It took me a while to get into this story. It was a little for me to figure out each person's special talent. I did finish the story, but a couple of times, I didn't know if I would. The ending was good, but I don't know if I will read any more in this series.
