Shout-out to the frog, who completely steals the story.

A very cute and interactive story with the perfect balance of weirdness! The narrative focuses on the book trying make to itself make the "Happiest Book Ever", but it is stumped by a frowny frog! Shenanigans ensue, and eventually a the book removes the frog, which brings the everything else in the book way down. Realizing the error of its ways, the book invites frowny frog back just in time for a happy ending.

This is a great book to read to a group of kids as it encourages participation. Bob Shea's illustrations are adorable, and he packs the pages with hidden treasures. How can you not love a book that sneaks in a waffle turtle?!

Would be a great picture book to read aloud to kids--it just invites reader participation.

In the spirit of other books that invite the reader participation, this happy book wants to make everyone even happier. There's just this stubborn, grumpy he ruining it for everyone? Readers will enjoy the silly drawings, while parents and storytellers are sure to appreciate the message.

This one would be lots of fun to read to a group of kids. The book is trying to become the happiest book ever and invites readers to participate in that process. There are some great lessons here (but nothing overly didactic) about being happy even when things aren't perfect, not judging things based on appearance, general kindness, etc. Highly recommended!
