This novel was not as well crafted as the first in the series; perhaps because the scenario is a bit far out and the unfolding of the violence rather unbelievable. I really enjoy the descriptions of the Alaskan frontier, it is sort of our last unexploited space in our country if you can ignore the pipeline running down the middle. The romantic interplay seems very forced as if it was introduced to make our heroine seem more feminine. I hope our author goes a bit more into the native/newcomer interplay and the uniqueness of the environment.
