Really great adaptation of the book of the same name. Well acted, well directed and well scored.

Mary, ignored by her parents while growing up in British India, had been nurtured by their Indian nanny and servants. Why would Mary abuse and berate the English servants? I would expect her to be much more sympathetic. The story ends happily when Colin regains the use of his legs. I would have been more satisfied if Colin's father had discovered the children playing in the "secret" garden - and learned to appreciate the intelligence and bravery of his son along with his disability! This maudlin tale has too many gamboling bunnies and lambs; and showers of petals.

I feel that this film captures the book pretty well. There are a few changes in the details (i.e. extra details not in the book, change of details in the book) but I thought it still followed the original story-line fairly faithfully.

The child actors and actresses were amazing. There are some movies where the actors are convincing but you can still tell they're acting. These children embraced their roles so well I was completely drawn in, and can't hardly imagine them as anyone else. :)

I'm not sure what to say on age; some 7, 8 year-olds and up might do very well with it, but it's a sad enough story (health troubles, dark rooms, poor depressed - heartbroken - man) that I myself would decide based on the child. :) This is not because the story is so very mature, but rather the movie just portrayed it so accurately; sometimes reading and imagining it is very different from seeing it.

A charming classic.

I have not read the book so cannot compare the film against it. As a stand-alone film, it has beautiful images and a reasonable story line. Acting by all three child actors is great. Definitely a good film for the family.

I watched this movie with my daughters last night and must admit that we all ended up with teary eyes in the end: This was by far the nicest movie I have watched in a long time, something to warm and touch your heart, a movie that has superb actors and can do without all those big expensive actions scenes you see so much of nowadays in the cinemas. I just think it was beautifully filmed and acted out, loved it so much!

I Watched this a while ago and I can't wait to watch it again when my hold comes! I would reccomend to read the book first thought...Cause the book is a really good and if you watch the movie first it'll kinda wreck the book! I think the book is better not that the movies not good! Thought!

While I am aware that it is impossible to make a movie that is completely like the book, I thought that this movie was, although the acting was very well done, the storyline took a beating. Some of the main changes in the movie, including how Mary's parents die and where she finds the key for the garden did not help the movie at all. I really wish that they had been more faithful to the book because I thought that the casting was impeccable.
