Coach Clay Driscoll is a small town basketball coach who seems to have everything going against him. A team he doesn't want. A town that doesn't support girl's sports and small town politics that threaten to undermine any chance he has of winning. But his pride and his "girls" refuse to let him quit. Both the young women and their hard-headed coach fight for equality and a share of the dream, taking on the town prejudice and their own self-doubt. Based on the true story of Jim Keith and the Lady Cyclones.

"Believe in Me" is the true story of a small town Oklahoma girls basketball coach. His name is Clay Driscoll and he took a chance with his first coaching position in the 1940's to coach girls high school basketball. We learn how initially girls sports programs were under funded. That does not stop Coach Discoll or his girls from trying and learning to succeed. It is an inspirational story that I was proud to watch. I know that girls sports programs of today are benefiting by these pioneering girls sports program of the past.

As a benchwarmer, yet basketball enthusiast, in the mid-80's, I enjoyed the movie--especially the additional features about the real Coach.
