Kingsley Ibe is an engineering school graduate who can't find a job and still lives at home with his family. After his girlfriend rejects him and his father dies, Kingsley is taken on by his Uncle Boniface (aka Cash Daddy), who is in the business of Internet scams, otherwise known as 419s. Soon, Kingsley is writing e-mail solicitations to the gullible of cyberspace, and any qualms he may have had about ripping off innocent people evaporate as he steps into the good life with a big new house, a Lexus and a new love interest. Meanwhile, Cash Daddy develops political ambitions and gains some ruthless enemies bent on crushing him. As the plots converge, Kingsley must decide whether to sell his soul to build a 419 kingdom.

Just an excellent read!

I don't much care for satire, but I'm glad I read this one! Years later the world Nwaubani created in her fiction is still vivid in my mind.

I really enjoyed this book. It starts out a little slow, but quickly picks up speed in the second half. I guess that you would call this genre African urban fiction. It's about quick money, internet email scammers operating in urban Nigeria. It's of course a combination of truth and fiction, and you'll have a hard time telling where one ends and the other begins. This book is written by a talented young Nigerian writer who I think we will hear a lot about in the future years. Great job on writing this book!

Wonderfully written with a wry humour only someone from Nigeria would get away with. And coming from Africa myself it did make sense. Loved it.

A glimpse into the background of "419" Computer fraud. Insightful, different and a journey into a whole new world.
