This is a story of survival, although I didn't add it to my "survival-adventure" shelf because that seemed too frivolous for this title. I felt quite voyeuristic reading this and almost put it down a couple of times--I had to ask myself what I wanted to get out of it. The answer was to read about the rescue, see how the women are coping, and to get some satisfaction in the form of retribution on Castro. When he had all his power removed, he couldn't last even a couple of months in conditions so much better than the ones in which he kept those women. I'm not happy about that, but I am satisfied with that outcome and I can only hope the women involved will continue to get the help they need and be able to move forward with their lives.
