This spinoff series from Princeless is even better than the original, and that's saying something! In this series, it seems like Whitley is writing for a slightly older audience, more towards pre-teens and teens, while still being all ages appropriate. One of the subplots revolves around her love story, and the storylines seem to go a little deeper and deal with topics in a more serious manner, although there are still plenty of great one-liners and laugh out loud moments like the original series. The all-girl pirate crew is awesome in so many ways, while still being flawed people who have to learn from their mistakes, making this series a great way to start conversations with your kids. Some of the topics that come up include gender diversity, sexual orientation, love, racism, violence, consultation, respecting individual differences, and anger and hurt.
