Orwell, a democratic socialist, wrote this book to warn others about the dangers of totalitarianism, regardless of the economic system. A brilliant satire on the Soviet Union, with the power of Napoleon (Stalin) able to change the truth and demean his opponent, Snowball (Trotsky). I was hoping for a more satisfying ending, but the uncomfortable ending really emphasizes how a revolution can lose its original vision when the power falls into the hands of the corrupt.
